My hubby and I dined here with our friend. It is our second time with RBG, our first time was when another friend invited us for a dinner, we were at the penthouse where it seems to be a good scenic view of Muscat except the powerplants and construction sites here and there.
The dinner this week was at the restaurant downstairs. The RBG has a bar where you can see how the chefs are preparing our food plus there are sitting areas and place for a band/duo.
So, me and our friend ordered grilled salmon, and my husband ordered beef pastrami. The salmon was good, i like the way they cooked it, it’s perfect served with 3 pieces of onion rings. The salad is generic with a lot of lettuce, it doesn’t describe what type it is, dressing or whatever. The menu says it goes with chunky fries or mashed potatoes, i just don’t want to be carbo loaded that night. Our friend is satisfied with the salmon too, he orders it whenever he is at RBG.
My husband was disgusted by the beef pastrami. It was made club sandwich style with really thick bread and just a layer of beef.It wasn’t what he was expecting a pastrami should be, add the generic salad….no.
RBG is popular with tourists here in Muscat, that is why, the good thing about the crew and the manager was they were good about accepting the criticism about the pastrami, and they should be, specially when they are offering food to expats who knows the food so well. Of course, the management offered my husband another dish from their menu, (which he declined), they did not charge us for the pastrami.
It is still a good place to go, try the house red. It’s good.
